bamboozled
out of a whole bike. my wee little road bike, which has seen me through several triathlons now and several fun day trips but never really got its day in the sun in terms of an epic ride, has been lifted.
it was sitting in front of Gill Park, where i swim, locked up and graciously awaiting a nice hour-and-a-half long ride, portion two of what i'm referring to as a mock triathlon. of course, that got shelved, because i walked outside, really, really anticipating another great ride, to find that it...was...gone. just gone. between the hours of 7:30 and 8:30 AM, no less, because that's when I was inside. as i've asked so many friends today, "what kind of douchebag hangs out across from a school with a hacksaw between the hours of 7:30 ad 8:30 in the morning?"
the kids in uniforms just getting into school underscored the point. i wandered around in my cleats for a little bit, wondering if i had just misplaced the thing--really, Eesh? really?--and then, feeling really lost, i clumped back down to the locker room, cleared out my locker, and started walking home.
and then my head cleared up. "i need to call the police," said my head, "from the scene of the crime." so i shuffled back to Gill and asked them to phone the police, who were very nice and who gave me a report number so that i could file a claim with my insurance.
of course it would be the bike that i'm taking to london. of course it would happen just before i'm leaving; of course it would happen the day of my party; of course it would happen just as i'm about to start leg two of a workout that i felt could really help me to gauge how i was going to do.
what a shit situation.
fortunately, we "know people." not, alas, the type that will hunt down the offending assholes who did this to me, but good enough: people who have it in their power to get me a bicycle, stat.
i'm getting a pretty little number from ridley, which is very exciting. it's white and blue. it matches the jacket i bought from cannondale recently, and which i like very much.
i, also, am finally a little blue. it's really sad to see something you worked hard for, and something you enjoyed so much, go out the window. i mean, it's not like it went to pay for timmy's new leg.

Mme_red sends her sympathy. I know I already said this, but that really sucks.
